Call for Crafty Interns!

Here's our hero, Natalie Ebaugh, who interned with us in 2011.
Check out her business, nu babushka, on Etsy!

The Charm City Craft Mafia is on the prowl for two--count ‘em, 2!--ambitious students to join us as Mafia Interns this summer! We love our interns with all our hearts and we provide all the documentation and support necessary for them to receive college credit for the experience.
Also? So many high fives.

Here's Ms. Nora Truskey in all her glory. Check out Nora's illustration work! And her weaving!

Here's what we need:

Mafia Intern Extraordinaire

The first position is for a generalist. The two main responsibilities of this internship are to assist our members with studio work and to help us prepare for our spring 2012 indie craft show, Pile of Craft! The intern will work along side the Mafia communicating with vendor applicants, performing organizational tasks and marketing, contacting sponsors, as well as carrying out day-of-show tasks including setting up tables, decorating, assisting vendors, making food runs, etc. This internship is a wonderful opportunity for an artist who is interested in community building, hosting events, and the indie craft community. It is ideal for someone who has strong hand skills and can quickly learn and apply a variety of artistic techniques using everything from clay to fibers to paper and pen. You must be motivated, flexible and fun. You will see the inner workings of the Mafia and what it takes to put on the best indie craft show in Baltimore. You will have the chance to work with a group of 13 zany and talented artists whose work includes painting, drawing, sculpture, weaving, bookbinding, printmaking, ceramics and much more. This opportunity begins as soon as possible and can last through the summer and even beyond, if we find the right candidate. Other tasks may include assistance with other art and craft shows, studio maintenance, social media updates, etc.

The intern MUST be available to work the evening of June 15th and all day on June 16th 2012. Please do not apply if you cannot make yourself available on both of those days.

Mafia Web & Marketing Intern Extraordaire

For the second position the Charm City Craft Mafia seeks a flexible and fun artist/designer who will perform many of the tasks listed above, including studio work and show preparation. In addition to these tasks, the incumbent will be responsible for a large portion of the Charm City Craft Mafia’s web presence. You should have strong writing skills with a captivating voice as you will assist us with blog posts, website updates, Facebook and Twitter. Experience with WordPress, Blogger, Google products, various social media outlets and generally kick-butt design skills are a must. Photography skills are also a big plus!

This intern must also be available the evening of June 15th and all day on June 16th 2012. Please do not apply if you cannot make yourself available on both of those days.

Here's Susie Martinez, our current intern, who is kicking ass and taking names.
She's a pretty awesome model for Mafia business, Red Prairie Press, too, isn't she?

To apply to be an intern, please send a resume and cover letter as well as a link to your website or a portfolio of your art or design work to Carly Goss at carlygoss@yahoo.com. Please also indicate which position you are applying for.

Looking forward to getting crafty with you!
